Saqaraah Pyramids, Egypt, October 7th – From the Step Pyramid of Djoser to the burial site of Pharaoh Hotepsekhemy! Last Wednesday, the 9th Grade students of NIS-American went on an old fashioned scavenger hunt at the site of the ancient necropolis.
The academic excursion was chaperoned by Ms. Nermeen Khalifa, Ms. Amira Awaad, and led by our social studies superhero/HoD, Ms. Esi Haliti. The scavenger hunt enabled the students a hands-on, minds-on experience of the ancient history covered in their social studies curriculum.
While they expected to see a pyramid, the students had no idea their groups would be racing against time to be the first team to collect all the information in their packets!
After an hour and a half of running, searching, laughing, and cheering, the students welcomed the shade and cool air in the bus. That’s right, most of them slept on the bus ride back to school!
