“All the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”
–Act II Scene VII, As You Like It by William Shakespeare
If this metaphor is taken to heart, then the scientists of the world, throughout time and history will necessarily hold lead roles in this magnificent production. Stepping Out of Darkness is a play performed by the high school students of NIS-American, and supervised by the HS Science Department.
Each young man and woman portrayed the roles of prominent scientists in the world’s history from Isaac Newton to Thomas Edison to the Wright Brothers (Orville and Wilbur). The play was designed to shed light on the motives and processes of invention; some by necessity, some by curiosity, all fueled by an undying passion.
